What is ARTSWEEK GOLDEN?

ARTSWEEK GOLDEN is a week-long celebration of the arts orchestrated by Foothills Art Center in partnership with arts-oriented organizations in beautiful Golden, Colorado. Foothills Art Center traces its roots to 1968 when a group of artists formed to renovate the historic First Presbyterian Church into a thriving regional arts center. In 2018 Foothills Art Center will celebrate its 50th Anniversary while continuing to serve artists, house creative exhibits and offer educational programming and classes for learners of all ages. Explore this site to learn more about ARTSWEEK GOLDEN.

A WEEK OF THE ARTS

CELEBRATING CREATIVITY

PAM FORTNER As an artist, my greatest hope is to create artwork that means something.  Artwork that provokes thought.  Something that allows me to express my personal experiences and concerns and is more than just a pretty picture. My current body of work includes everything - paintings, artists’ books, installations and sculpture. I love the elements of repetition and progression.  All work that I create will incorporate these aspects.  I consider myself a maker as well as an artist. The process involved in the creation of a piece of artwork is very important to me. Each of the many steps enriches my experience and allows me to see new possibilities and new directions for the final piece. The results are always surprising.
