SPARK! Alzheimer's Association Programs with The Denver Brass

In partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado, Foothills Art Center offers opportunities for participants with mild memory loss and their care partners to enjoy our art exhibitions and object based learning and discussion. SPARK! programs provide interactive and engaging experiences in comfortable settings guided by trained docents and volunteers.

This special concert is open to the community and is themed “Grand Ole Time”. It is a  special program for the “grand” people in your life. Grandparents, Grandchildren, “grand” friends and “grand” family are invited to enjoy a concert in our gallery.

Spring Break Art Camp during Jeffco Spring Break

Looking for a creative way to fill the spring break week? Campers, ages 6–10, gain inspiration from Foothills exhibitions and participate in hands-on projects that offer in-depth art experiences and technical instruction. Students grow creatively and strengthen their artistic capabilities while they develop collaborative and critical thinking skills. Each day is different and includes fun gallery activities and the viewing of original works of art, a one-hour lunch break, and creative studio projects.

Toddler Tuesday

This program is designed for families with children aged 18 months to 3 years. Parents will be able to enjoy time with their children without having to worry about the constraints of bringing their younger family members to public space. This hour will start with socializing and then continue with activities focused on creative and cognitive development.

Art Business Series- An Introduction to Framing Your Artwork

Learn to frame like a pro, no experience required. This workshop is geared towards artists and covers the technical basics, including proper framing tools, hands-on mat cutting and conservation mounting of your artwork.  Further information will be provided in regards to the proper framing of different art media and where to purchase framing materials. Kathy Beekman has been working as a professional custom picture framer for over 20 years and brings museum-grade skills in framing to this workshop.

Member Trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico

Join your FAC staff and fellow members as we travel by deluxe motor coach to Santa Fe, New Mexico, the nation’s oldest capital city and art lovers’ haven.

We will spend two nights on the Santa Fe Plaza at the historic Hotel La Fonda, which blends “modern conveniences with the warmth of authentic New Mexican style.” Highlights of our trip include a Saturday morning private docent tour at the Georgia O’Keefe Museum, followed by a delicious luncheon prepared by the catering staff at Hotel La Fonda, and transportation Saturday afternoon to Museum Hill, where you may explore four world-class museums and botanical gardens.

Watercolor Painting Workshop – Bold and Free with Nancy Condit

Mom and me Jewelry Making

Create a wonderful memory with your child while learning to create beautiful jewelry with beads.  These easy to master wire working techniques will allow you to make jewelry for yourself and friends.   Students will have the opportunity to complete a beautiful smaller project during the class, while developing the skills they need to launch into a bigger project of their own design, and have some special time with a special person in your life. No prior experience necessary, but all levels are welcome. Price is per pair of attendees. (Children 6 years and older, plus $10 materials fee)
