Metal-Smithing in a Morning- with Francesca Morales Cook, owner of Out of My Hands Studio

Create your own unique pendant in this introductory metal class.  Students will use equipment such as a mini-torch, disc cutter and dapping block while learning several basic metalwork techniques.  No previous jewelry experience is required. Class size is limited so that Francesca can give every student one-on-one guidance.  Each crafted adornment will be as unique as each participant. All tools are provided. Bring a sack lunch, safety glasses and reading glasses (if needed).

In partnership with the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado, Foothills Art Center offers opportunities for participants with mild memory loss and their care partners to enjoy our art exhibitions and object based learning and discussion. SPARK! programs provide interactive and engaging experiences in comfortable settings guided by trained docents and volunteers. Spring Break Art Camp– During Jeffco Spring Break

Looking for a creative way to fill the spring break week? Campers, ages 6–12, gain inspiration from Foothills exhibitions and participate in hands-on projects that offer in-depth art experiences and technical instruction. Students grow creatively and strengthen their artistic capabilities while they develop collaborative and critical thinking skills. Each day includes fun gallery activities and the viewing of original works of art, a one-hour lunch break, and creative studio projects.

Drawing for People Who Think They Can't

Uncover the drawing talent that lies right below your fingertips! The ability to draw is common to everyone, not just the “gifted”.  What enables one to draw well is the ability to see well. Learn the basics of the visual language and play with contour and shape drawing. Subjects will range from simple still life objects to the human figure. Be prepared to have fun and be surprised at what you can draw!

Paint Pouring Class with Pam Fortner

During this 4-session class, we will cover many aspects of the poured acrylic painting technique.  We will discuss paint recipes, pouring mediums and additives.  We will also learn about different methods of pouring paint and explore the results of each method.  Students will have the opportunity to try each technique and will develop their own individual style. This is a fun, messy class, so students should be prepared to get their hands dirty! All materials will be supplied for the first class.
