Grammies, grab your favorite munchkins and enjoy a whole day of Native American-themed arts and crafts. Join out-of-town artist Linda Keegan for this one day only, multi-generational class. Make unique clay beads to go on headbands and necklaces and sew together your very own pair of Arapahoe Indian moccasins—READY TO WEAR HOME!

Each week offers a different set of classes focused on a specific theme or technique with new projects each day.

June 17 – 19; 10 am – 3 pm

Let's travel through time and discover the amazing history and art of the ancient Egyptians! In this workshop we will learn how to script our names in Egyptian hieroglyphics, create and paint our very own mummy and carve an amulet out of metal. We will also make our own beads for an Egyptian necklace.Session II: Panama Mania

This class is a great opportunity to explore the arts and culture of Panama! We will study the Kuna Indians of the San Blas Islands and create our very own Panamanian Mola out of paper. We will also study rain forest animals and make some Fimo clay animal friends that can live on the fridge!Session III: Panama Mania

Learn how to recycle household junk mail, egg cartons and other scrap paper into art. The class will include an introduction to techniques such as paper mache, collage, and handmade paper. Campers will make wonderful recycled journals, cards, & sculptures.Session V: Super Scraps

Think you know everything there is to know about recycling? Working with found and discarded objects, campers will explore ideas of making art by recycling. The class will include an introduction to both traditional folk and contemporary recycled art, as well as learning basic construction techniques and use of simple hand tools to create imaginative assemblages.Session VI: Potato Head Picassos

Every home has a kitchen and every kitchen is full of creative potential. Somewhere between art and cooking, this class explores creating with common materials found in the kitchen. From potato-head Picassos to edible art, have fun learning to play with food.Session VII: Dramarama

Have a flair for the dramatic? Campers will bring their wildest imaginings to life in this class geared toward introducing them to the artistic elements of drama and performance. Learn about puppets, masks, costumes, scenes, props and backdrops. Children will design, create and bring their own characters to life.Session VIII: Worldly Wonders: Nature's Art

Join us for a very fun workshop where we will explore our imaginations to create anything and everything from 3d-Bugs to turtle tambourines. We will also paint rocks and sculpt animals out of Fimo clay. We will use the environment around us as inspiration for our creations and have a blast with all sorts of media!
Art Classes at Foothills Art Center
- All levels welcome unless otherwise stated
- Payment of 50% required at time of registration
- 10% discount for members
- Supply Lists are mailed to registered students
- Foothills reserves the right to cancel a class, and will refund students their full balance
- Students who cancel a paid enrollment within two weeks of the start of class will receive a full refund. After that, Foothills will retain a $25 administrative fee.
Participant Responsibilities
- Bring all supplies unless otherwise indicated
- Pick up and clean work area at end of each class
- Inform Foothills staff of facility or cleanliness problems
- By participating in a class at Foothills Art Center, students and instructors agree not to hold Foothills liable for injury, loss, or theft incurred on or off site
