FOOTHILLS ART CENTER HOSTS Colorado Watercolor Society State Watercolor Exhibition
GOLDEN, COLORADO -- Join Foothills Art Center to celebrate the 26th Annual Colorado Watercolor Society (CWS) State Watercolor Exhibition, an annual juried exhibition from watermedia artists from Colorado. CWS kicks off with a member-only preview on Thursday, April 20th, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The exhibit opens to the public on April 21st and will be on view through June 25th.
Colorado Watercolor Society 2017 State Exhibition is generously sponsored by John Puma, LIV Sotheby’s International Realty. “It’s a great honor to sponsor the Colorado Watercolor Society exhibit here at Foothills Art Center. At Foothills Art Center we love to give the local Golden and greater Colorado artist a place to showcase their works. I look forward to working on this and future exhibits here at Foothills as we strive to continuously enrich our community through the arts.”
CWS has grown over the decades and now counts over four hundred members. Their membership represents a wide range of experience levels, from beginners to experts, from amateurs and hobbyists to seasoned professionals, including nationally and internationally acclaimed artists. Painting styles, subject matter and media are equally varied, encompassing traditional, representational transparent watercolor, more contemporary, experimental and abstract watercolor.
The 2017 juror, nationally known artist, Vladislav Yeliseyev, is known for his stunning architectural eye in his watercolor paintings. His unique ability to reflect transparency of natural light in his painting and to accentuate the artistic qualities of the subject as juxtaposed in the natural environment. Yeliseyey reviewed over 275 entries selecting works that range from intricate realism to engaging abstraction in a variety of media that all will enjoy.
