Members' Trip to Taos, NM

Join us as we travel to Taos, New Mexico, on a chartered luxury bus for an art filled weekend. Our stay in Taos will be at the Hotel El Monte Sagrado, a four star spa resort located only one mile from Taos Plaza. During our visit we will explore three art museums/historic sites, which will enhance our knowledge and appreciation for the Taos art scene of the past and present. Please see the itinerary for more details. The trip dates are October 18 - 20, 2019.

The trip price includes: 

  • Transportation to and from Taos on a luxury chartered bus (snacks and beverages on the bus)

TAOS ITINERARY

Friday, October 18, 2019

8:30 am - Arrive Foothills Art Center.

9 am - Depart Foothills Art Center via Charter Bus. Snacks and beverages provided on the bus.

11:30 am- 1:00 pm - Stop for lunch along the way (included in price of the trip)

4 pm - Arrive at Hotel El Monte Sagrado a beautiful spa resort located one mile from the Taos Plaza.

4:30 - 6:30 pm - Welcome reception with heavy hors d’oeuvers, beer, wine and other nonalcoholic beverages (included in price of the trip).

6:30 pm - Remainder of the evening on your own

Breakfast on your own.

9:40 am - Meet in hotel lobby.

9:50 am- Depart for tour of the Couse-Sharp Historic Site (included in price of the trip).

Two visionary painters, whose art captured the Southwest.

Explore the studios of E. I. Couse and J. H. Sharp, founding members of the Taos Society of Artists. These two painters helped create the cultural fabric of Taos and the West as we know it today. View artists' work on the Couse Portfolio and Sharp Portfolio pages.

12 pm- Lunch and shopping in downtown Taos on your own.

3-5 pm- Walk to Harwood Museum of Art for a docent tour of an exhibit or collection.

The Harwood Museum of Art brings Taos arts to the world and world arts to Taos. (included in price of the trip)

6 pm - Charter Bus departs downtown Taos for Hotel.

Dinner is on your own. If you care to stay in the Taos Plaza area there are hotel shuttles and Lyft and Uber options for return to the hotel.

11:45 am - Depart Hotel Lobby

12 – 1 pm- Tour of the Millicent Rogers Museum.

Whether your tastes range from prehistoric pottery to contemporary jewelry, the MRM is the place to experience all the cultures of the Southwest—and all under one roof. As you walk through our 20 galleries and exhibition spaces, you too will make your own discoveries about the heritage of the Hispanic, Native American and Anglo arts and cultures of the Southwest. 1:30 pm - Depart Museum for return trip to Foothills. Snacks and beverages provided on the bus.

7:30 pm -  Return to Foothills Art Center
